2 months ago I created one and I started getting a message to connect them. Its kind of freaking me out.
How does Youtube know I have a gmail account?
Google purchased YouTube recently so I would not be surprised if they spliced their records and connected you to a YouTube account.
If you believe it is in error, contact either Google or YouTube on the links below. I did not think they are legally able to look at private records and make connections like that! If you signed up for YouTube with your Google account just change your email address in your YouTube profile, of if the mail is mere advertising report it as SPAM!
