How can Google company afford all the $10.00 discount when a person uses his gmail account to buy something?

I have heard that there are people who make fake accounts and get the $10.00 dicount and once they recieve the goods they close the account

What makes you think that Google provides the 10 dollars to these companies? More than likely, Google has an agreement with these companies to offer the 10 dollar discount to entice people to use both services (g-mail and the Internet purchase thing). This way, google may get more people using their services, and at most, a company is making 10 dollars less profit. But taking a small loss on profit is still making more than if no purchase was made in the first place. Everybody wins - Google's G-mail, the Internet store, and the person getting the discount.
